Miller Outdoor Theatre's free shows come with two different seating plans
A ticketed covered seat and an unticketed place on the hill offer different ways to plan a Houston performance outing.

A free outdoor performance can still benefit from a plan. Miller Outdoor Theatre offers both covered seating and space on the hill, with different arrangements that are useful to understand before choosing how to spend the evening.
The theater states that all performances are free. Covered seats for evening events, excluding movies, use assigned tickets. A portion becomes available online at 10 a.m. the day before the show, through noon on performance day or until exhausted. Additional tickets are distributed in person when the box office opens an hour before the performance. Check the actual event listing for its arrangements.
Hill seating does not require a ticket and is first-come. Facing the stage, lawn chairs belong on the left and blankets on the right. Bring the seating that suits your party and follow current picnic guidance, including the prohibition on glass containers. Pets are not permitted on the hill or in the theater seating area.
Review the calendar first and allow time for arrival and finding your place. Contact the theater ahead of time about accessible seating rather than depending on a last-minute request. With those details settled, the evening can be about the performance: trying an unfamiliar art form or sharing a show with someone who might not otherwise have gone.
